Artist Statement

My work is mostly the result of my need to paint. It is an outlet that I find to be a relaxing passion as well as a challenging one at times. 

Inspiration can strike at random. I am not limited to one specific subject area, though I do have a tendency toward nature. I find it beautiful and ever changing. I do also find inspiration from things in my daily life, from a cup of coffee to a favorite movie. Usually when I begin a piece, I have a specific idea in mind.  

I prefer to work with acrylics as that is the medium which really brought out the abilities I wasn’t sure I had. With acrylics, I enjoy layering my colors as I feel it provides me with more opportunity to make changes as I progress through a piece.

I strive to show the viewer my perspective on the world around me. The colors that I see and the beauty in a simple river or tree. I like my work to be seen as realistic but not technically precise.
